Rich Cowles has been Executive Director of the Charities Review Council since 1999. During that time, the Council has emphasized its leadership role in strengthening the nonprofit sector. 

Rich has had a longtime interest in the sector and has served on a variety of boards and committees, including currently Independent Sector’s Ethics and Accountability Committee, and recently as an officer of the Council of Agency Executives of the Greater Twin Cities United Way.

Prior work experience includes senior management positions with the Minnesota Hospital Association, Minnesota Health & Housing Alliance, and Opportunity Workshop (now Opportunity Partners).
